Professor Keith Brennan, Associate Dean of the Faculty of Biology, Medicine and Health of the University of Manchester, visited Jilin University

On January 7, Professor Keith Brennan, Associate Dean of the Faculty of Biology, Medicine and Health, and Professor Meng Qingjun of Chronobiology of the University of Manchester visited Jilin University. Vice President Zheng Weitao met with the delegation; heads of the Office of Global Engagement, the Office of Academic Affairs and the School of Life Sciences attended the meeting.

 


During the visit, the delegation held a meeting with the Office of Academic Affairs, the Office of Global Engagement, the School of Life Sciences, the College of Veterinary Medicine, the College of Plant Sciences and the College of Animal Sciences and visited the Zoonosis Key Laboratory designated by the Ministry of Education. The delegation also gave an introduction to the exchange programs of the University of Manchester for undergraduate representatives from related colleges.

 





Founded in 1824, the University of Manchester is a comprehensive research university located in Manchester and one of the founding members of the Russell Group. According to the QS World University Rankings 2019, it ranks the 29th in the world.

 

In 2013, Jilin University signed a cooperation agreement with the University of Manchester, under which the School of Life Sciences, the College of Materials Science and Engineering, the College of Communications Engineering and the College of Electronic Science and Engineering set up dual bachelor’s degree programs with their counterparties in the University of Manchester. In 2013, the School of Life Sciences and the University of Manchester signed an agreement on the exchange programs for students from the Tang Class for the first time; so far, 10 students from the Tang Class have studied in the University of Manchester. In 2016, the Faculty of Biology, Medicine and Health of the University of Manchester opened the summer school for the first time, which has been open to students of Jilin University. 27 students from the School of Life Sciences, the College of Clinical Medicine, the School of Public Health, the College of Veterinary Medicine and other related schools have been sent to the project.
