College of Food Science and Engineering 

Introduction:

College of Food Science and Engineering (CFSE) was established in 2015 through the optimization and adjustment of the discipline layout of Jilin University. There are over 60 faculty and staff members, of which 60% are academic researchers with high-grade professional titles. CFSE has 1 Provincial Distinguished Teacher1 Deputy Director Member of the Teaching Committee on Food Science and Engineering under the Ministry of Education and 9 Doctoral Advisors. CFSE is authorized to offer the doctor's degree and the master's degree first-level program on Food Science and Engineering, the master's degree in first-level engineering program on Food Engineering and two undergraduate programs - Food Science and Engineering and Food Quality and Safety. Up to now, the total number of the undergraduates and graduates in CFSE has reached over 900. The major of Food Science and Engineering was ranked the 10th based on the national evaluation of the first-grade discipline in 2004 and was selected as the 'Twelfth Five Year Plan' key discipline for the institutions of higher learning in Jilin province. In 2007, the Food Science and Engineering Experimental Teaching Center was selected as the Jilin Provincial Food Science and Engineering Key Construction Experimental and Teaching Demonstration Center. In 2008, the Jilin Provincial Functional Food Engineering Research Center was approved. The discipline of Food Science and Engineering has been certified as the first major in Jilin University through the Professional Certification of Engineering Education under the Ministry of Education in 2009, which makes it one of the 16 national majors certified nationwide.

Research:

CurrentlyCFSE has the Jilin Provincial Key Lab of Nutritional and Functional Food, the Jilin Provincial Functional Food Engineering Research Center, the Jilin Provincial Food Science and Engineering Pilot Teaching Center and several other labs and medium sized experimental workshops that are involved in Food Science Basics, Food Safety, Food Engineering and Food Technology. CFSE has so far undertaken and completed over 210 scientific research projects at the national and provincial level and many University-Enterprise cooperation projects, and gained numerous high-level research achievements, including over 50 patents and over 300 research papers.
