Delegation led by Gregory May, U.S. Consul General in Shenyang Visits Jilin University

On Dec 1st, a three-member delegation led by Gregory May, Consul General of the United States in Shenyang paid a visit to Jilin University, and was received by Prof. Chen Gang, Executive Vice President of Jilin University.

At the beginning of the meeting, Prof. Chen Gang introduced the basic situation of Jilin University and its competitive subjects, and shared with the Delegation its cooperation outcomes with American universities. He pointed out that JLU attaches great importance to the strategy of internationalized development, values the pragmatic cooperation with American universities, welcomes more American scholars visiting or working in JLU, and looks forward to more young American students coming to JLU for short-term study, in-depth communicating and closely cooperating with faculties and students of JLU.

Consul General Gregory May spoke highly of the openness of JLU. He expressed that he will actively promote the multi-facet and all-dimensional cooperation between JLU and American universities, and provide policy support for JLU faculties and students to visit the United States for further study, research and exchanges.

It is the first time for Consul General Gregory May to visit JLU since taking office. Both parts had an in-depth discussion on current situation, challenges and prospects of cooperation between JLU and American universities.

Consul Matthew Easter and Assistant Xu Tongyang of Political and Economic Section of the Consulate General of the United States to Shenyang were in the delegation. Officers of Global Engagement were also present at the meeting.
