On April 27, a delegation of 3 members, including Professor Chris Rudd, executive President of the University of Nottingham Ningbo China, Professor Yan Yuying, Director of the Institute of Heat Transfer, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning of Nottingham University visited Jilin University. Executive Vice President Chen Gang met the delegation, who was joined by Liu Debin, Assistant President and Dean of School of International and Public Affairs, Han Zhiwu, Engineering Bionics Key Laboratory of the Ministry of Education, and Zhang Guangcui, Director of Office of Global Engagement .
Prof. Chen Gang first extended welcome to the delegation and looked back on the close cooperation in engineering bionics and the fruitful outcome made by both sides in the past few years by utilizing the “Sino-British Joint Lab on Functional Surface and Fluid Interaction Bionic Technology”. He said that both sides could conduct intensive practical cooperation and exchange in key disciplinary areas.
Professor Chris Rudd introduced the running mode and talent-nurturing of the University of Nottingham Ningbo China and exchanged opinions with Chen Gang on faculty exchange visit and joint fostering of graduate students.
It is said that the delegation will also visit the Engineering Bionics Key Laboratory of the Ministry of Education on April 28, and an academic report will be given to faculties and students.
Professor Chris Rudd, an expert in mechanical engineering, was also the Deputy President of Nottingham University and had close partnership with Jilin University. In 2009, he was recruited as the guest professor of Jilin University. In 2013, he was awarded the “Changbaishan Friendship Award” by Jilin Provincial Government.
