Shin Bon-Sup, Consul-General of the Republic of Korea in Shenyang, Pays a Visit to Jilin University

On March 29, Shin Bon-Sup, Consul-General, Lee Hye-Cheong, Consul for Educational Affairs, and Kwon Tae-Hanl, Consul for Cultural Affairs of the Consulate-General of the Republic of Korea in Shenyang paid a visit to Jilin University. Li Yuanyuan, President of Jilin University received the delegation.


Li Yuanyuan welcomed Shin Bon-Sup’s special visit to Jilin University, and briefly introduced Jilin University’s basic information and its student exchanges and academic cooperation with Korean universities in recent years. Li Yuanyuan said that Jilin University is having closer communication with Korea, and hoped to strengthen its cooperation with the Consulate-General of the Republic of Korea in Shenyang, further advance non-governmental exchanges in education, culture and science and technologies, and work together to contribute to prosperity and stability of the northeast Asian region.

Shin Bon-Sup appreciated Jilin University for its long-time active and practical cooperation with Korean universities and institutions, and hoped to further deepen China-Korea non-governmental exchanges through the bridge of public diplomacy.

Li Yuanyuan agreed with Shin Bon-Sup’s suggestion, and mentioned that according to demands and requirements of China’s new round of rejuvenation of the old industrial base in northeast China, the two sides could base on the achievements made in cultural and educational exchanges, further enhance cooperation with Korean universities, enterprises and research institutes, advance innovative collaboration, and serve the regional economic and social development. Shin Bon-Sup expressed his appreciation to Li’s remarks.


The two sides also discussed and reached initial agreement on actively promoting the convening of China-Korea Public Diplomacy Forum, participating in Northeast Asia Logistics Cooperation Forum, and further enhancing cooperation on Korean studies research.

Chen Gang, Executive Vice President, Liu Debin, Associate Vice President, and related staff from Office of Global Engagement and School of International and Public Affairs of Jilin University attended the reception.
