JLU Delegation to Singapore

During January 1 to January 7, Prof.Bing Zheng, Executive vice president of JLU, led a three-person delegation to Singapore upon invitation; they visited National University of Singapore and Nanyang Technological University and conducted academic exchange and visits. This visit relies on the major project of national social science fund,Research on Innovation of Social Group Management Model and Ways to Carry forward, with the theme of social and cultural develop and social governance innovation of Singapore, and includes academic exchange and discussion with related scholars and social group members on the role of non-profit group in social integration and public service. Prof. Tian Yipeng, Vice Dean of Philosophy and Sociology College and director of Department of Sociology, and Prof. Cui Yueqin of Department of Sociology joined the visit.

During the visit to National University of Singapore, the delegation communicated fully with related leaders and scholars of Literature and Social Science College and Population and Family Research Center on common concerns, such as cultural development and communication, social governance, evolution of China’s population policy and social old-age care, and also negotiated on further bilateral cooperation in some disciplines. The delegation also visited some non-governmental organizations, such as the Singaporean migration group, Home and Fei Yue Family Service Centre.

During the visit to Nanyang Technological University, Yu Minghua, vice president of Nanyang Technological University held talks with the delegation. Prof. Yu welcomed Prof. Bing and the delegation and introduced NTU and development of its Graduate School of Public Management. Prof. Bing talked about JLU and its development and plans for celebrating the 70th anniversary. Zhuo Jiannan, director of International Affairs Office of NTU, Dai Shiyan, vice president of Graduate School of Public Management of NTU, Wang Lin, manager of International Affairs Office attended the talks. Graduate school of public management of NTU invited Prof. Bing to deliver an academic report to the class of managerial staff from Guizhou province, who were trained at NTU, and the topic of the report is Development Trend of Contemporary Chinese Culture.

The delegation paid a special visit to counselor of education, Yu Yunfeng, at China’s embassy to Singapore and exchanged views on JLU cooperating with universities in Singapore in the fields of scientific research, culture and academics.
