JLU Vice President Zhao Hongwei Attends “2020 Northeast Asia University Presidents Forum”

On November 20th, 2020, Prof. Zhao Hongwei, Vice President of Jilin University, was invited to the “2020 Northeast Asia University Presidents Forum”, which was hosted by the Education Department of Jilin Province and organized by Yanbian University. The forum was held via an online conference platform, with the theme of “International Exchanges and Cooperation between Universities in Northeast Asia in the Post-Epidemic Era”. At the Opening Ceremony, Ju Shuming, from the Education Department of Jilin Province, Jin Xiong, President of Yanbian University, and Alexey Vasiliev, Rector of the Saint Petersburg Conservatory named after N.A. Rimsky-Korsakov, delivered opening remarks. Prof. Zhao Hongwei delivered a keynote speech entitled “Joint Efforts to Promote International Cooperation and Exchange among Universities in Northeast Asia in the Post-pandemic Era”. Representatives of over 10 universities from China, Russia, Republic of Korea, Japan and Mongolia attended the forum to discuss international cooperation in higher education in Northeast Asia. The forum was presided over by Wang Yanming, Vice President of Yanbian University.

Prof. Zhao Hongwei, on behalf of Prof. Jiang Zhiying, Chair of Jilin University Council and Prof. Zhang Xi, President of Jilin University, extended sincere gratitude to Yanbian University for undertaking the forum, and to colleagues who have supported the development of Jilin University and promoted higher education cooperation in Northeast Asia for a long time. Prof. Zhao Hongwei expressed that Jilin University has made active efforts and achieved great results in advancing international cooperation in Northeast Asia for many years. He shared the measures Jilin University has adopted to facilitate regional development, such as leveraging comprehensive multidisciplinary advantages, promoting international scientific cooperation, enriching people-to-people exchanges, optimizing the construction of talent teams, and improving the cultivation of international talents. He expressed JLU’s willingness to engage in, and to help facilitate, pragmatic cooperation among universities in Northeast Asia in the post-epidemic era and to make greater contributions to the building of the a community of a shared future for mankind.
