I. Background

“Insight into Northeast China” is a flagship program of Jilin University (hereinafter referred to as JLU), tailor-made to meet the needs of global Chinese language learners who are interested in Chinese language and culture. In the year 2020, global student mobility was seriously disrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic. Supported by “Chinese Bridge” Delegation Online, “Insight into Northeast China”: 2020 JLU Online Chinese Courses will be presented online from January 4th, 2021 to February 28th, 2021.


Campers will take interactive Chinese language courses and lectures on Chinese cultures, to better understand Chinese language and China’s development, enjoy a different teaching and learning experience at JLU, and make friends with Chinese language learners from around the world as well.

A total of 30 class hours online Chinese courses from January 4th, 2021 to February 28th, 2021.

II. Lectures

1. Live Chinese Class

Live Chinese class is tailor-made to meet the needs of campers at different Chinese language levels. Practical Chinese language examples will be taught through 16 class hours (30 minutes/class).


2. Online Lecture Series

Scholars in humanities and social sciences will give lectures on China’s development on “Chinese Bridge” (bridge.Chinese.cn). Campers are invited to complete at least 8 class hours of lectures from January 4th, 2021 to February 28th, 2021.

3. Chinese Language Courses

International Chinese language teachers and international students will work together to give lectures on contextual Chinese language courses. Campers are invited to complete at least 6 class hours from January 4th, 2021 to February 28th, 2021.

4. JLU Youth Forum

This is an online interactive exchange session for worldwide campers. The theme is “My Life in the Future”. Campers are encouraged to team up with peer campers and give presentations.


5. Language Practice - Reading, Listening and Speaking

Campers will be invited to team up and join in a Chinese language competition via platforms such as “Kahoot” or “ClassIn” in the final week to present their learning performance. Each team will be asked to answer questions on Chinese language and culture and dub Chinese films and TV dramas.


The TOP 3 teams in Chinese language competition will be rewarded with the gift package of “Online Chinese Language Courses” and free online learning accounts for HSK online courses or “China Panorama” courses in the next year.
